nouveaux livres
Hier j'ai passé une journée géniale avec un frère avec qui je pars demain au Maroc. On s'est pas mal baladés, on est allés prier ensemble à la grande mosquée, et on a acheté quelques livres dans une librairie "amie" du quartier latin.
Il y a quelques jours on m'avait conseillé Paroles d'or du sheikh al Dabbagh, un maître illettré qui vécut à Fès à la fin du XVIIème siècle. Un frère qui m'en a parlé m'a dit que ça l'avait tenu éveillé toute la nuit !
Et moi qui me disais que j'allais acheter moins de livres, que j'en ai plein en retard à lire... il faut croire que c'est difficile de résister.
J'ai aussi la vie du prophète par Maxime Rodinson. Un regard d'un grand orientaliste, marxiste et athée. C'est marrant de lire ça maintenant. Je n'aurai certainement pas le même regard que si je l'avais lu il y a un an.

there is a very clever thing in the avant-propos that I had never thought of : he explains that the sentence "But Allah knows best" is a precaution often used when citing hadiths... because one cannot always be 100 % certain of the hadiths (with all due respect to the chains of transmission of course).

Rodinson's Islam et Capitalisme is quite marrant too.
He claims that his view upon Islam is free of ideology, that he studies the history of Islam with a fresh, new eye...then he does the exact opposite, applying Islam to marxist values and methods...
Marrant, but interesting though.

En rentrant hier soir de voyage j'étais crevé mais j'ai quand même lu le début du Rodinson, il faut reconnaître que c'est un "page turner"... j'ai dû faire un effort pour arrêter et m'endormir.
